Minecraft is one of the world’s most successful games. The latest version of our award-winning Skills Miner game harnesses Minecraft’s popularity to bring engineering to life in a fun and innovative way, uncovering engineering skills through gameplay.

Master home energy to win

Skills Miner Home Energy encourages the development of green engineering skills through a familiar, domestic world which poses power and energy challenges.

Players are tasked with upgrading a house in order to increase its sustainability rating, while meeting a budget.

Throughout the game they will discover the pros and cons of the decisions they make while learning about sustainability and climate change.

Who it's for & who we work with

Our game is aimed at 12 to 14 year olds.

Skills Miner can be used during lessons, enrichment, or in after school clubs.

We have collaborated with Education Specialists to ensure that the game is built in line with the existing curriculum and mapped to Gatsby benchmarks.

Specially-created guides have been developed to assist teachers.

Game & Lessons

Players begin in the Mesolithic Era where they will see how people lived, and learn about how fire was used for food preparation and heat.

They are then "teleported" to today and given the opportunity to consider which improvements will make the most difference for their budget.
